About
Built by a practicing forward‑deployed engineer.
The FDE job is hard to practice and harder to show. Reading about discovery is not the same as sitting across from a skeptical client who will not volunteer what you need. FDE Workbench is a place to practice that, for free, and to leave evidence of how you work.
Who is behind it
FDE Workbench comes out of two practices:
Pine State AI
A solo forward-deployed engineering practice in Raleigh, NC, helping small businesses modernize with workflow automation, voice agents, and marketing automation.
pinestate.ai ↗Honeycutt Software
An AI engineering consultancy in Raleigh, NC. It designs, builds, and operates AI products end to end, and it lists FDE Workbench among its work.
honeycuttsoftware.com ↗What is real, and what is not
- The company is fictional. Tidewell Home Services, its people, and its data are made up, and the data is generated by a simulation.
- The characters are AI. The people you interview are played by an AI model from Anthropic. They can be wrong, and the hidden facts are written ahead of time.
- The scores are a signal, not a certificate. They come from a rubric and from feedback the characters write about how you worked. They show how you did on one scenario, not how you will do on the job.
