Terms of Use

Last updated October 3, 2026

These terms cover your use of FDE Workbench at fdeworkbench.dev. By signing in or using the site you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

What FDE Workbench is

A training simulator for the forward-deployed engineer role. You work through a realistic engagement for a fictional company, Tidewell Home Services. The company, its people, and its data are made up. The service is free for candidates, is still being developed, and may change or stop at any time.

Your account

Sharing your results with employers

When you sign in you agree that employers who use the platform may see your name, email address, scores, interview transcripts, and the feedback the simulated colleagues give about you. The Privacy Policy explains this in detail, including how to withdraw. Employer access is opening in stages, and we do not promise that any employer will view or contact you.

Your content

You own what you write in the simulator. You give us permission to host it, process it, score it, send it to our AI provider to generate replies and feedback, and show it to employers as described above. This permission lasts while your account exists and ends when you delete it, except for what employers have already seen.

Acceptable use

Please do not:

The built-in API and MCP connection are for use with your own session, on your own simulated data.

Scores and results

Scores come from an automated rubric and from feedback written by an AI model. They are a practice signal, not a certification, license, or guarantee of skill or of a job. Employers decide for themselves how to use them, and AI-written feedback can be mistaken.

Employers

Joining the waitlist does not create a contract. Access, when offered, will be subject to additional terms.

No warranty

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your data will never be lost.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for lost opportunities, income, or data, arising from your use of the service. Because the service is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to one hundred US dollars. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending your use

You can stop at any time and ask us to delete your data. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms or to protect the service or other people.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change affects who can see your results, we will ask you again at sign-in. Using the service after other changes means you accept them.
